This song by Waylon Jennings was one of my parent’s favorite songs back in their glory days. With the world is such a state these days and seeing how absolutely crazy most people have become, this song keeps coming to mind and I just had to look it up on YouTube and give it a listen. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it. My dad still has the album somewhere, but finding a record player to play it on is another story.

Teenagers and Their Attitudes

Although my daughter is now officially a teenager she still enjoys so many things that she enjoyed at a much younger age that I wouldn’t think most kids her age would. She still plays with her Barbies and Bratz dolls, when I was her age I wouldn’t have been caught dead with a Barbie doll anywhere near me! She also still watches many of her favorite cartoons on the TV on Saturday morning, as well as online, since so much is available on the Internet in this day and age. The Warner Bros cartoons are her favorite, at one point she was totally crazy about Tom and Jerry and I decorated her room with as much Tom and Jerry stuff as I could find at that time.

I had to laugh last night when I walked into her room and found her playing Tom and Jerry games online at www.tomandjerrygames.co, she copped an attitude with me for laughing at her, you know how teenagers are when they feel they are being laughed at, sigh……But seriously I just thought it was cute and didn’t mean to hurt her feelings and get her attitude all out of whack. Dealing with her attitudes lately have been draining me, big time. I sure miss my little girl that used to be so happy go lucky most of the time. And with her Dad out of the picture, for the most part, I am stuck trying to deal with all the raging hormones and attitudes that are so much a part of being a teenager.

This Christmas should be interesting, trying to figure out what types of presents to buy for her. As my mother’s best friend, who just recently passed away, told me when I was 13, it is an age when you are too young for boys and too old for toys, may god bless her and may she finally rest in peace.

Favorite Movies

Someone on Facebook asked all his friends to post a comment on his wall with the name of a movie that they have watched over and over again. It was interesting to read everyone’s choices for favorite movies. You would think that because we are a small group of friends with a lot in common that our movie choices would overlap a little. But, no. I seriously could not agree with any of the other people’s movie picks.

Safe Lights

I really like the LED tea lights that my daughter bought and gave to me for Mother’s Day to put on the beautiful garden trellis that we put out in the garden area in the backyard. I’ve always been afraid to use to real tea lights that require a real flame in them out there, so these are perfect. We have worked real hard making the backyard a nice place to sit back and relax and enjoy the nice weather and the sunshine that we all require in order to get the required Vitamin D that we all are lacking recently. It’s much better then taking a vitamin pill each day.

She also gave me a nice Flameless candle with timer that we can use at various times when necessary. I’m so proud of how she is putting such thoughts into her gifts this past year or so. My little girl is growing up right nicely. It was a nice Mother’s Day all considering, just wish my mother was still on this earth to celebrate it with us.

Mom’s In Heaven

Awesome Architect Site

One thing I enjoy doing in my spare time online is looking at various architect sites. My grandfather was an architect, and a darned good one back in his day and he instilled an appreciation of the talents of the many architects of the world. Of course we all know the most famous architect of all time, which is Frank Lloyd Wright, in fact I did many essays and research papers on his work. One day I would love to be able to see first hand some of his work, but alas I’m not going to hold my breath considering how the economy seems to be getting worse, not better as we were promised some time ago.

So for now I will enjoy all that the Internet brings to us and witness the many wonderful architects that have their work for us to enjoy online. Starbucks is Helping

Today I actually got a second mocha with whipped creame, I do love those so, but getting this second one put my espresso intake at about 5 shots within just a few hours, so I decided to get a bottle of water to help ease the stress on the kidneys. I was quite impressed with the cool shape of the water bottle I received from Starbucks, and then found it even cooler after reading the label.

Ethos water, helping children get clean water it says. That’s all I need to know to enjoy buying this water, and drinking it made me feel good emotionally, and physically too. It tastes good, and it helps some needy kids, why can’t all things that taste good do that for the world?

Safety First

While on the subject of Mother’s Day gifts, this year I have decided to buy my mother-in-law a nice new fancy address plaque to put on display on the front of her house. This is a safety issue here folks, she really needs to have her house number displayed properly in case of an emergency. She lives by herself out in the country and I fear that if she needed to call 911 that they wouldn’t be able to locate her home in a timely fashion. So I have spent a bit of time lately looking at house address plaques trying to find one that she will approve of and actually have installed.

One of my issues is trying to pick one of the many address plaques that are now available. I had no idea that there were so many varieties out there these days. I always have a problem deciding when given so many choices in anything. Like at the grocery store if I just want a jar of peanut butter and there are 25 different types to pick from, I find myself standing there getting overwhelmed and I just get frustrated and walk away, and I just can’t walk away from this important gift and safety issue.

This Year’s Mother’s Day Gift

This year will be a difficult year to buy my mother her Mothers Day Gift. You see this year my mother turned eighty years old and has had to move in with my sister and her husband while she under goes various treatments that have been hampering her from living the quality of life that she is used to having. It doesn’t look like she will be leaving their house any time soon and all ready has enough stuff that she has accumulated in her 80 years on this earth, so buying her more stuff would be just a waster.

I have been considering just taking her out for a nice dinner, just the two of us, to get her out of their house and have some time with her to myself. The problem is that she has become very unhappy and angry at the world and I fear that she will just make the dinner a miserable experience for the both of us, and most likely the server as well. I love my mother, but we have never gotten along very well and I don’t think that anything will change that no matter what I say or do.

Going Solar Some Day

In school my daughter is learning a lot about energy conservation along with many good GREEN ideas that she and I would like to start participating in. We are all ready very into recycling, always have been, but there are many other things that we could be doing as well besides that and all of the gardening efforts that we continue to do each year.

The one thing that my daughter has made me promise to do in a timely fashion is to get some solar panel prices to see if we could possibly afford to go solar around here. I’m all for it, but trying to convince my dad (who owns and lives in this house as well) may be a different story. Some times the old saying of “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is very true when it comes to my dad. He has a heart of gold but is as stubborn as they come, but if you catch him on a good day I can usually talk to him without a lot of gruff. And after all this house will some day belong to me so I do have a vested interest. So with all of this nice weather we have been having it shouldn’t be too hard to find him cheerful in the back yard or on the porch.
