I had the opportunity to try a new drink last night after work. New to me, anyways. I didn’t really feel like drinking a beer for my “free after the shift is over drink” so I asked the other bartender for a suggestion and she came up with the mojito. Let me tell you – this is a great drink!

I watched her make it. She took a tall glass and dropped a couple lime wedges in the bottom. Then she sprinkled a couple teaspoons or so of sugar into the glass. Then she sprinkled some mint leaves in the glass and took a little stick-type bar tool and smashed the stuff in the bottom of the glass to mix it up. (Found out later that the tool was a “muddler.” Who knew there was a tool for this?) The lime juice melted the sugar into a thick syrup and mashing the mint leaves spreads the mint flavor through the syrup.

She then fills the glass with ice cubes and pours a couple shots of white rum over the ice. Fill the glass the rest of the way with club soda, and stir. I’ll have to start making these for some of my regulars that are always looking for something new to try that is nice and cool for these hot summer months that we are going to have to endure this year!

There is a little shopping center near my house that has a grocery store and 5 or 6 small stores, like a dry cleaner, a nail salon, etc. I drive by it almost every day. There has been a new little outbuilding under construction since before Easter and we’ve been wondering what is going to go in that store. Well today I found out – it is a new Starbucks! That’s great news for me – I love Starbucks

This was a tough July for me, I have felt like crap almost every single day due to my allergies.  I even called my doctor and had him switch prescriptions to see if it would bring me any relief, but I have seen no improvement and I called once again and left his office a message late Friday asking for another brand of allergy medicine can be prescribed once again, I’m feeling rather desperate at this point.

We have had a hot and humid summer, with the month of July not having much rainfall to wash all the nasty pollens out of the air that often helps with allergy suffering folks like myself. We started the spring and summer with tons of rain, but all that ended right after the 4th of July festivities were all over and done with.

So I have spent most of this summer inside the house with the air conditioner and air cleaners going full blast, my summer hasn’t turned out quite the way that I planned it to. Although I am getting a lot of things done around the house that have been begging for my attention and getting a good amount of reading done that I always seem to enjoy and don’t ever seem to have enough time to really get into.

I hope the doctor calls me on Monday in a timely fashion and maybe he will come up with another brand of medicine that will so me some good. And I pray that August will be not as difficult on my well being.

One of the few businesses that I have worked for at the  mall was at a kiosk that sold “Designer Sunglasses” and it opened up a whole new world to me of sunglasses and sunglasses accessories. I had no idea how huge this industry had become and the amount of money that people spend in an effort to own and look good while wearing, a good pair of sunglasses.The variety of styles and prices that this small kiosk, in a small town mall, was pretty decent, enough so that they usually took in on average, daily around $500., of course some days it would amount to several thousand and rarely was a zero day ever reported. Now think about it, nationally that adds up to a considerably large amount of money being spent on sunglasses. And I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to learn all that I did during the time that I worked there, and I have a nice selection of sunglasses to keep me going for years to come.

I have been wanting to buy a newer truck for probably about three years now,  and I finally came up with the money to put down on the first three payments plus the down payment! I’m so excited to go searching for my own new truck tomorrow, I mean who wouldn’t be this excited?

I believe I deserve to upgrade a bit, I do work so very hard for what I have, and now I finally get to enjoy trucking along in a brand new huge pick up truck. I will most definitely keep my readers updated on all the spicy details a little later on what truck I get, please wish me the best of luck.
