There’s a grocery store in Europe that makes our little ’self-checkout’ lines look obsolete already.  In Germany, there’s a grocery store that you take your cell phone, scan the items with it that you put in your shopping cart and then when you get to the check out, your cell phone will display a bar code for everything you scanned total, the check out person scans that and you pay and out you go.

So it looks like we’re not only looking at advances in grocery shopping but also in cell phones.  At the check out, once you scan the payment bar code, you can pay by cash, credit card, debit card or fingerprint (after you have signed up for fingerprint shopping).  And the politicians wonder why we are falling behind the rest of the world where technology is concerned.

No matter what we do we seem to just keep getting Spam, Spam and more Spam, sorry I’m just tired of going on to the computer and having to deal with all of the adult rated junk and online narcotic ads that seem to find their way into my computer no matter what box I check off and block things when given the opportunity. I’m going to have to talk with my brother’s buddy who is a computer whiz type of guy and see what he suggests, it is really getting on my nerves.

Christmas was made so totally easy for me this time around with the help and use of my handy dandy laptop. I did not have to go outside of the house for a single thing in order to find and purchase all of things that were necessary to make the house look good and all the people on my Christmas list happy campers.

I have never enjoyed going out shopping, I just don’t like crowds and the holidays always warrant crowds in every store in town. One of my favorite sites is now nomorerack.com so I wanted to make sure that my friends, family and all my other readers here on my blog know about it. The one thing that you need to know is that these are daily deals, you can go back the next day and find all new deals to check out, which I really enjoy, variety is the spice of life as they say. This afternoon I found a great pair of Snow Bunny Winter Boots that I have been looking for to give my daughter for her birthday, which falls on Valentines day, only a month away, sigh…. I found this unique and very user friendly site on Facebook. My sister actually uses it as well, but did she turn me onto it? Nope, had to find it myself while on Facebook LOL. I won’t hold it against here though, the holidays are always a crazy time for all of us, but we seem to always find the time to check Facebook at least once a day right?

One of the greatest things that happened when my husband and I recently moved into our new house is that we switched our television providers. Up until then we’d been cable television subscribers, because that’s what both of our parents had always used. We were looking around at our options for television in the new house and we discovered directstartv.com. We gave them a call, the installation was free, and we are now enjoying tons of television stations, as well as music stations and movie stations. It’s pretty great. We’ve been spending date nights in and ordering movies, and we love to curl up on the couch and watch our shows on DVR. There’s nothing better than getting home after work and knowing you have plenty of time to relax on the couch and watch television. With our DVR, we’re able to record movies from the movie channels too and enjoy a completely free date night. We love it so far, and with the money we’re saving on our monthly subscription plus the money we’ve saved on date nights, we’re planning a pretty phenomenal trip. We’re pretty excited.

The snow is bad enough, but the wind is totally out of control today. I’ve had to go outside numerous times so far today to retrieve several things that have been blown out of their proper place. So far, two box tops, one trash can, one lawn chair and just now I picked up several plastic trash can liners that blew in from somewhere in the neighborhood along with some other trashy items. The wind about blew me away, and I had to come running inside quickly and calm myself down a bit.

It will be a good day to stay by the blazing fireplace that I just started a nice fire in and watch all the football games that are being aired today. I have a good sized flat screen T.V. that makes watching the games so much more enjoyable.

What a cold and nasty Saturday, and the bad news is that tomorrow is supposed to be worse, oh what a wonderful Monday that will be.
